Mission Statement
The Emergency Matrix is a electronic publication aimed at keeping the practicing Emergency Medicine professional abreast of the latest breaking news concerning their industry. With current trends involved in the legislative arm of healthcare, the industry is being forced to change the way it does business. Combined with the involvement of numerous business entities in the delivery of healthcare services, development of the new APC outpatient payment system, and the utilization of technology by 3rd party administrators, the evolving changes are leaving Emergency Medicine professionals with more work related stressors, and less job satisfaction. The old way of doing business in Emergency Medicine is being so challenged by business and legislative entities, that compensation levels and free time are declining. The old way of leaving the "business" worries and logistics to administrators is no longer going to suffice if the Emergency Medicine professional is to survive economically and still maintain a rewarding practice lifestyle. Adaptation is going to be imperative. What adaptations? Adopting the latest technologies, staying abreast of industry news, and understanding legislative rhetoric. Furthermore, if current professionals want to be a part of the solution, rather than gripe about the problems, it is also going to be imperative that they become more pro-active, and interactive, within their industry. Luckily, never has this interactive component been easier to accomplish. With the advent of the internet, real-time interactive communications will make it realistic for Emergency Professionals to easily stay informed and educated in areas that effect their livelihood. It is the purpose of this electronic medium to provide quick synopsis of news articles that concern Emergency Medicine, illustrate the vague abyss of computer technology so that it may not be perceived with apprehension, but adopted with anticipation of the true value that it provides in helping to maintain a essence of quality within our work day. This media also invites those that know the reality of practicing at 04:00 am, flip-flopping from days to nights, and trying to wrestle with some semblance of chaos, to submit their observations for inclusion in the editorial section. Please remember that the job satisfaction you realize is a direct reflection of our ability as Emergency Medicine professionals to maintain a voice in the workings of our industry. This staff hopes to encourage this voice through a cohesiveness that is catalyzed here within the Emergency Matrix. Please forward this link to all Emergency Professionals you know, or submit your mailing lists so that we may broaden the communicative capabilities that our profession needs to have.
